A new family of PP sealing resins designed to run on the latest generation of BOPP production lines offers unprecedented processability and clarity for transparent and metallised food packaging.
Speed
Customer trials have demonstrated that film made using this new product family can be run at production speeds of up to 420 metres per minute.
“This is a considerable improvement in productivity compared to the norm of 300 to 350 metres per minute,” said Michael Möller, marketing manager for Basell’s global sealant resins business.
Customer trials also established that films made from Adsyl ST resins had fewer surface defects and a better thickness profile - qualities that contribute to reducing production downtimes.
Transparency
A Basell test has also shown that in a 20μ BOPP application, Adsyl ST resins achieved a level of transparency nearly 25% higher than film made of conventional polypropylene.
“The properties of these new grades set new a standard within the class of 105°C sealing-layer PP materials,” said Caroline Cathelin, project manager for European sealant resins.
Tailored performance
Adsyl ST resins are produced using Basell’s Catalloy process technology, allowing the precise tailoring of film properties to application requirements.
